Welcome! There is something magical about El Taller. After only six months I can now understand, read, speak, and sing, well enough to navigate in any Spanish-speaking country.... I feel so fortunate to have discovered this extraordinary community. Lauren Taylor, Adjunct Lecturer, Columbia University School of Social Work El Taller Latino Americano, or The Latin American Workshop is a non-profit 501(c)3 cultural arts center on Manhattan's Upper West Side - a space alive with color, sound, movement, and creativity - music, art and language converge to educate and entertain. Language Classes... where students discover how the language of art and the art of language can transcend cultural barriers. A Cultural Center... where over 500 people each month meet to share ideas,find creative inspiration and find refuge in the middle of the City. A Stage... where local and internationally known artists and musicians present their work. A Gallery... to showcase upcoming and established artists from all over the world. News Back Again!! Nueva York! was recorded at El Taller and features our very own Bernardo Palombo as executive producer, plus many of Taller regular musicians. Award winning community film maker, Thomas W. Campbell, has been appointed Director of Video at El Taller Latino. His responsibilities include video documentation, distribution development, video archiving and overseeing the video internships at El Taller.
