Alfonso Maya is one of the most outstanding young singer-songwriters in Mexico today. His music reflects both folkloric and contemporary influences, and incorporates rhythms of the world. He is singer, composer and producer on two albums: "Giros y Giros" and "Tarot".
Alfonso writes songs to free himself and he walks through life telling stories about his life experiences. Born and raised in Cuernavaca, Mexico, Alfonso began writing songs at the age of 14 and studied music with private teachers and in schools like the Morelense Arts Center, where he studied classical guitar.
Alfonso has shared the stage with great artists such as Hector Infanzon, David Haro, Mexicanto, Fernando Delgadillo, Gerardo Penna and Gerardo Alfonso, among others. This is his first time playing in New York, after recent concerts in Puerto Rico and Chicago. He has also played in California, and in European countries such as France and Spain.
