El Taller Latino Americano is proud to present Hiroya Tsukamoto, as part of our 35 Years Taller series. The Japanese guitarist and songwriter takes us on an innovative and impressionistic journey filled with earthy, organic soundscapes that impart a mood of peace and tranquility.
Originally from Kyoto, Japan, Hiroya's path in music was shaped by the sounds of the Nueva Cancion movement from Latin America. In 2000, he received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and came to the US. Hiroya has been performing internationally including several appearances at Blue Note in New York. Hiroya released five albums as a leader. He recently performed on Japanese National Television.
