Uli & Grupo Miguelito: Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

Brooklyn Based, Mexican Born ULI is getting ready to release her first solo album titled "Simple". Mixing different styles and languages, the 10 song cd was produced by The Gacierz in Mexico city with the help from the band 'Liquits' and finished in New York with some of the the city's finest musicians. Blending styles from 'Banda' to 'Electronica Nueva', ULI serves a powerful blend styles rarely heard this far north of the border. As a producer ULI has worked with artists Ashanti, Gigi & Bill Laswell, Baby Monroe, and Lazy K. For this 'Cinco De Mayo' show her band goes 'unplugged'. For more info about ULI visit:

Consisting of core members Ricardo Padron on guitars, Ze Luis Oliveira on woodwinds, drummer Mike Williams and Miguelito on vocals, upright bass, guitar, piano, and cuatro, the band hits a mark somewhere between the bolero/flamenco stylings of mid 1970's Jose Feliciano and the modern energy of artists like Manu Chau and Juanes. The songs, some in Spanish and some in English, are rooted in an almost folkloric background with topics of devotion and struggle at the forefront, while others like "Sr. Marti", (a homage to famed Cuban poet Jose Marti) are festive as well as thought provoking. The bands EP is slated for digital release (on itunes, Napster, Rhapsody) on 'Cinco De Mayo' (May 5) - So why not celebrate? For more info visit:
