It's a case of the sum equals more then the separate parts or maybe like Communism where it's from each their abilities to each their needs. The Project uses elements of contemporary classical music and jazz along with electronic sounds, Latin rhythms, ancient Japanese court music and whatever else we can find that works. Pieces are sometimes a combination of written parts and free improvisation. Every member brings something to our original compositions.
The Tom Blatt Project dates from sometime in the mid 90's and has gone through various configurations. At present, core members include Tom Blatt, bass; Andy O'Neil, drums; Nick D'Amato, guitar, Charles Ramsey, guitar; and Michele Smith, flute, vocals, and percussion.
