El Taller Latino Americano is proud to present our friends - Alexandra Castano & Abram "El Llanero", as part of our 35 Years Taller series. The duo reunites for an evening of boleros and folkloric songs of longing and love from Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Puerto Rico, as well as from Abram's debut album Luna Y Lucero.
About the duo: Alexandra is a long time friend and teacher of El Taller and returns to El Taller on Colombian Winter Vacation. While studying Communications and Journalism at the Universidad Pontificia Boliviriana in Medellin, Alexandra decided to join the choir Ensemble Vocal UPB, where she followed her childhood passion for music.
In Ensemble Vocal, she had the opportunity to participate in many choral festivals throughout the world in Spain, Paris, France and Argentina. She continued her vocal training in the Opera program of the Universidad Antioquia, where she studied for two years.Alexandra moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue a career in journalism and follow her passion for music and found a home at El Taller. With guitarist Abram Alberto, Alexandra has developed a beautiful repertoire of tangos, boleros and other popular songs.
Abram Alberto (a.k.a. "El Llanero") is a Venezuelan singer, guitarist and cuatro player. Though much of his repertoire features traditional boleros and folkloric music from the Venezuelan llanos, Abram has also taken the works of famous Latin American writers such as Pablo Neruda, Gabriela Mistral and Luis Llorens Torres and set them to his own original compositions.
