Conversation and Concert with Andrés Beeuwsaert of Aca Seca

El Taller announces a unique opportunity ideal for musicians but open to all. On Sunday, September 11th, Argentine composer-pianist Andrés Beeuwsaert will host a charla abierta, followed by a jam session.

Andrés will share some key music that describes him as both a musician and listener, show arrangements that he created for Aca Seca and for his solo albums, and tell about his experience as a producer and composer.

Born in Olavarría, Argentina, a province of Buenos Aires, pianist-composer Andrés Beeuwsaert fuses the most beautiful traditions of South America with jazz and classical colors. Andres has played and recorded with talented musicians on both the local and international scene, including: Charly García, Ivan Lins, Joe Lovano, Steve Khan, Hugo Fattoruso, Mono Fontana, David Lebón, León Gieco, Fats Fernandez, the Brazilian singer Tati Parra, guitarist Yotam Silberstein, Leo Genovese, Javier Malosetti, among many others.

In 1999, Andrés founded the Aca Seca Trio with Juan Quintero & Mariano Cantero. Considered a benchmark in the popular music of Argentina, Aca Seca has been praised for its musical syncretism by musicians such as Pat Metheny, Egberto Gismonti, Nathan East, Joe Lovano, Bob James, Steve Khan, Pedro Aznar, and Luis Alberto Spinetta. In 2005 and in 2015, Aca Seca was awarded the prestigious Konex prize, dedicated to 100 outstanding Argentinian personalities of the last decades (also won by Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Gardel, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Mercedes Sosa, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Charly García, and Eduardo Falú). Over the last 15 years, Aca Seca has performed in the US, France, Italy, Spain, China, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Venezuela, Ecuador, and in their native Argentina.
