El Taller Latino Americano is pleased to present BIRDS, photographs by Fernand Brunschwig. The reception is free and open to the public on Wednesday February 14, 2018 from 6pm-8pm. The images are on view until March 8, 2018.
Brunschwig has traveled broadly and this collection shows a wide array of birds in their natural environments. One can observe singular and paired birds in a variety of activities, from care to competition. The best among them are the ones that transcend the frame and refer to art history, emotion, and the concept of flight itself. In these images we find ourselves recovering breath, discovering balance in the air, and soaring. Taking the lead from our winged models, for just a moment, we can “see” from above. It inspires one to remember that there are different points of view.
Fernand Brunschwig moved to New York City with his family in 1980. His early passion for photography converged with walks in the Central Park, which turned out to be “a world-class birding hot-spot,” especially in the spring and fall migrations.
