Andrea Arroyo
El Taller Latino Anericano’s Grady Alexis Gallery is pleased to present “ImagiNATIONS: Art as Solidarity”: an ongoing series of artworks created in response to issues that touch us every day, like immigration, civil and gender rights, displacement, gun violence, international conflicts, and the environmental crisis.
Arroyo shares: “The works reflect the universal values of love, justice, equality, and peace and aim to build bridges across borders, languages, and cultures and generate dialogue about issues relevant to the local and global levels.
Bearing witness to injustice and political upheaval inspires me to create images documenting our turbulent times while celebrating beauty and resilience.
For me, art-making is a practice of hope in action. I hope these images will inspire reflection and empower individuals and communities to create change by raising their voices in empathy, solidarity, and love”.
This project has taken many forms: the printed page, online, gallery, museum, and public art exhibitions, and the book “ImagiNATIONS: Art as Solidarity,” Gold Medal for Best Art Book at the International Latino Book Awards.
