Boricua Guitar Power is Pupa's vision for Puerto Rican musicians: they can create and play in many styles of music, even though Puerto Ricans are known for their Salsa and Latin music. There are many musicians that go beyond the norm and are very talented in many other forms of music from Jibaro, African, Jazz, Blues, Samba, Merengue, Metal, Hard Rock, Soul, Funk, World Music and many others.
Pupa was born in Lares P.R.. He left at 9 month to live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He returned to Lares when he was about 11 years old with his family. Then they moved to Cayey, where he learned to play Rock & Roll with childhood friends Kenny Olson, Kenny Tirado, Dave Mcgranaham, Edgard Rivera, Jose Yuyo Rivera, Jim Rivera, Frank Rivera and many others. In Cayey, he had a few bands like Tronopathic Waves and People Of Time (POT). He did music festivals, private events and T.V.. Then he moved to Utuado where he lived with his family for many years and worked with the bands Black Century and Andromeda. In the early 70’s he left to N.Y.C. to form A Band Called Loisiada with Edgard Rivera, Brothers Quique & Pupo from Vega Baja, P.R.. also with Juvenal Calderon.
