Latin American Art Song

El Taller Latino Americano is proud to present David Guzman, Tenor, for a night of Latin American Art Song. From Gustavino to Maria Grever, David will be accompanied by pianist Natalia Katyukova, as he explores the Latin American Art Song, a vocal music composition written for one voice, within the well suited and unique acoustics of El Taller.

Colombian tenor David Guzman has been highly regarded by critics for his exquisite beauty of tone and impeccable musicianship in opera, oratorio and zarzuela. Recently, he sang Rafael in Foglia/Martinez's To Cross the Face of the Moon with Lyric Opera of San Diego and Houston Grand Opera, Haydn's St. Nicholas Mass with DCINY in Avery Fisher Hall, a solo recital in the Amira de la Rosa Theater in Barranquilla, Colombia and recitals with Opera al Parque in Bogota, Colombia. When not singing, David teaches children Spanish through Music in after school programs.

One of the highly regarded young collaborators of her generation, Russian pianist Natalia Katyukova is currently working as an Assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera. A native of Klin, the city of Tchaikovsky, she has been invited numerous times to play in the House-Museum of Tchaikovsky on the composer's own piano. A graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory, The Juilliard School and Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, her teachers included Margo Garrett, Jonathan Feldman, Brian Zeger, Ken Noda and Lev Naumov.
