Diana Sophia has traversed a very unique and eclectic musical path on her way to becoming the singer that she is today, her artistic and musical path began in childhood and in her adolescence as she sang in many children's choruses, as well as participated in theater, writing, guitar and piano playing, drum workshops, and amateur rock bands, (where she first delved into songwriting). Diana studied at the “Conservatorio de las Rosas” and the “Escuela Superior de Musica”, however, the majority of her studies have been taken privately or have been autodidact. She has received grants from both SIVAM (The International Society of Mexican Artistic Values) and INBA (Mexican Institute of the Arts). At a young age, Diana was selected during a national audition to be an active member of the Mexican Opera House “Palacio de Bellas Artes”, in Mexico City, where she sang as first soprano for almost 7 years as part of the choir, as well as many character and solo roles in different opera productions. Diana Sophia has performed in many concerts as a soloist and chorus member spanning many musical genres ranging from opera, popular, folk, world music, and experimental fusion in and out of Mexico. In 2008, she moved to New York City where she studied with several well-known artists from the opera world. She performed with "Pacific Encores Performances" as well as being a part of several recitals with "The Martina Arroyo Foundation" in New York City. In January of 2012 she was invited by the Mexican visual artist Tupac Martir to sing in his opera prima, "Nierka", a multidisciplinary show which combines film, black theater, music (electronic, post rock and opera) puppetry and new technologies, at the Peacock Theatre in London UK. Currently, Diana Sophia has been exploring popular music and its possible fusion with other genres through collaborating in different projects with renowned musicians in New York City.
